Paris Saint-Germain Edges Olympique de Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Claim French Super Cup in Kuwait.

Trophy celebration scene

PSG has now secured the prestigious cup on fourteen different occasions.

The Parisian giants needed a stoppage-time leveler followed by a perfect spot-kick decider to overcome Marseille in the Gulf and secure a fourth straight Trophee des Champions title.

The European champions appeared to be sailing towards a comfortable triumph in the match between the Ligue 1 champions and the Coupe de France winners after Ousmane Dembele found the net in the opening stages.

Yet, Marseille struck twice late to take a surprise advantage. Initially, the English forward converted from the spot-kick, before the defender inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a breathtaking turn of fortune, Goncalo Ramos grabbed a vital leveler in the final moments to send the contest into a penalty shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Lucas Chevalier then emerged as the hero, stopping decisive kicks from Matt O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, the midfielder, Nuno Mendes, and the young talent all scored successfully for PSG to seal a convincing shootout victory.

The record champions PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Olympique de Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now lifted this trophy for the twelfth time in the last 13 seasons.
